An Alumni Fellowship Community for Lifelong Support

A Lifetime of Support for Alumni in Recovery

Fellowship and support are the backbone of every aspect of our treatments at Roots Recovery. We’re incredibly proud of the fellowship we’ve built between our clients, recovery staff, and alumni — and these relationships are anything but superficial. Recovery is a lifelong journey, and your family at Roots Recovery will be there to support you every step of the way.

Fellowship in Milwaukee
Addiction Recovery

We prepare our clients to live a life free of addiction, and part of that is ensuring that they have the support they need to be successful. During our Milwaukee addiction rehab programs, our clients form strong bonds with one another as they work together to heal their addictions. Through this collaboration, they gain patience, empathy, and other tools that will help them resist substance use in the future.

Through participating in group therapy12-Step programming with the greater community, and residing in our Sober Living and Alumni Homes, our clients build support networks with peers who understand what it’s like to battle addiction. Healing with others who are experiencing similar difficulties and challenges forms a kind of fellowship and understanding that simply can’t be replicated anywhere else.

Aftercare & Alumni Homes

Our commitment to client recovery doesn’t end with programming. Aftercare planning is an essential part of the addiction treatment process, and we’re proud to offer Alumni Homes to help clients achieve lasting sobriety. While clients stay in more regimented Sober Living homes during our services care, our Alumni Homes are for men and women who have successfully completed primary addiction care, and we believe would benefit from additional support.

Clients living in our Alumni Homes are responsible for paying their own rent, buying their own groceries, and doing the same things they would do for themselves if they lived on their own, but enjoy the continued benefits of living with a house manager and peers focused on recovery. They’re encouraged to establish new healthy routines and gain independence, financially and emotionally, with the option to continue counseling and select other services.

Being of Service to Others in Recovery

We encourage alumni who have completed programming at Roots Recovery to continue to stay involved in their recovery. Addiction recovery is an ongoing process, and we’ve found that our alumni who invest time in connecting with their peers tend to have an easier time themselves.

Alumni can serve as resources for new admissions to Roots Recovery, acting as a guide, inspiration, and mentor. Many of our alumni even take on a sponsorship role for 12-Step programs, which allows those in rehab to get a positive glimpse of a successful life in addiction recovery. We’ve also set up our Sober Living and Alumni Homes to be led by house managers who are Roots Recovery graduates. These former clients understand the struggles that new residents are facing, and they’re eager to share their knowledge and experience to help them through the challenges of recovery, especially in the difficult early days.

Because recovery is more successful when an individual continues to stay active in their recovery and is surrounded by supportive peers, we invite alumni to even remain active in certain rehab programming like group therapy and select outings.

Encouraging Fellowship &
Friendship at Roots Recovery

Not only do our alumni tend to stay connected to Roots Recovery, they also stay connected with one another! Our alumni have formed a community of those in recovery to ensure that they stay in each other’s lives in positive, meaningful ways.

Our alumni will often attend the recreational events that we host for our clients, such as watch parties, Brewers’ games, motivational speakers, trampoline park outings, and more. This is a great opportunity for clients to strengthen the fellowship they’ve formed during treatment and develop new friendships. Some of our alumni even choose to live with one another after they’ve completed our rehab programming, to support one another and keep each other on track.
